Last time, before Harry’s last solo piece, we discussed how you are manipulated by the polls and what you can do about this. Note, however, that you are manipulated because fraudulent, misleading polls are reported. There’s a lot of ways in which modern reporting misleads. Let’s talk about a few of them.
There is a tendency amounting almost to the universal to misreport legal decisions and to report things as if they were final decisions when they most certainly are not. Let’s look at some headlines taken from Realclearpolitics
White House grapples with whiplash legal rulings hitting heart of Trump’s economic agenda.
This one comes from CNN and was written by Kevin Liptak and Jeff Zeleny, on or about 28 May, 2025. The first part is unquestionably true – the White House is clearly having to fight all of these rulings – but the second part – “hitting heart” – is a bit misleading. Why? Because to hit at the heart requires finality. But within hours the Court of International Trade – referred to as “The Tariff Court’s” – ruling was stayed. This isn’t finality, either, of course. But that the stay isn’t does not mean the initial Tariff Court ruling is. In short, it’s all completely up in the air and you’re being played, manipulated.
